Bloody Mary with Tequila - Texas Style

Ingredients

  • 1 lime
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 12 fluid ounces Spicy Hot V8® juice (about 1 1/2 cups), chilled
  • 4 ounces silver tequila (about 1/2 cup)
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 teaspoons grated husked skinned tomatillos
  • 1 teaspoon finely grated red bell pepper
  • 1 teaspoon finely grated onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery salt

How to make it

Servings: 2

  1. Grate the zest from the lime. Cut 1 wedge from the lime. Stir the salt, chili powder and lime zest on a plate. Rub the cut side of the lime wedge around the rims of 2 glasses. Dip the rims of the glasses into the salt mixture to coat. Fill the glasses with ice.
  2. Stir the vegetable juice, tequila, lime juice, cilantro, tomatillo, red pepper, onion and celery salt in a pitcher. Season to taste. Pour the vegetable juice mixture into the glasses.
  3. Serving Suggestion: Garnish with sprigs of fresh cilantro or skewers of Tex-Mex favorites like roasted serrano peppers, sharp Cheddar cheese cubes and/or cocktail onions. Sprinkle the skewers with smoked paprika for more flavor, if desired.
